Sims Professional Engineers is pleased to announce the promotion of Mr. Cody Kasten to the position of Engineering Supervisor, Analysis. Mr. Kasten earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Valparaiso University and has been with the company since August 2007 as Mechanical Engineer and, as of recent, Project Engineer. He is a core member of the Sims PE team that has provided engineering design, analysis and testing services to the railroad and other industries since 1983.
Mr. Kasten has performed many freight car analyses used to help clients upgrade, optimize, or extend the life of their rolling stock. Mr. Kasten, and the rest of the Sims PE team, is ready to assist with any rail car design, including a structural strength analysis as per AAR MSRP M-1001, Chapter 4, or a fatigue analysis, as per Chapter 7, among the team’s other capabilities.
